Drop to CDN MCP Server
Upload files to CDN from Cursor or Claude Desktop via MCP. Install mcp-server-droptocdn with your API key.
mcp-server-droptocdn is a Model Context Protocol server that gives Cursor, Claude Desktop, and other MCP hosts four tools for uploading files and managing CDN URLs. The host launches it locally with npx; your API key stays on your machine.
MCP quick install
Add the server to Cursor or Claude Desktop.
- Add a droptocdn entry to .cursor/mcp.json (Cursor) or claude_desktop_config.json (Claude Desktop).
- Command: npx -y mcp-server-droptocdn, with DROPTOCDN_API_KEY set in the env block.
- Restart the MCP host so it picks up the new server.
Connect the MCP server
Three steps to go live.
- Get your API key: create one in Dashboard → Settings (starts with dtc_). Each user configures their own key locally.
- Add the MCP server: add the droptocdn block to your host config, then restart the host.
- Ask the model to upload: reference a local file path or generated content — the model calls upload_file and returns a public CDN URL.
MCP tools
What the model can call.

- get_file — inputs: file_id. Outputs: id, url, expires_at, size, mime_type, original_name.
- list_files — inputs: optional limit, cursor. Outputs: data[], has_more, next_cursor.
- delete_file — inputs: file_id. Outputs: id, deleted: true.
MCP server FAQ
Common questions about the MCP server.
Do I need Node.js?
Yes. The MCP host launches npx mcp-server-droptocdn as a local process. Node 20 or newer is required.
Where does my API key go?
Into the env block of your local MCP host config. The server reads DROPTOCDN_API_KEY on startup and calls the Drop to CDN REST API directly.
What can the model do with it?
Upload a local file or generated content, fetch metadata by ID, list recent uploads, and delete files — all through the four MCP tools.
