## Install the n8n node

Three steps to use Drop to CDN in n8n.

- Install the community node: Settings → Community nodes → Install → n8n-nodes-droptocdn. On verified instances an owner may need to install it once.
- Add credentials: Credentials → Add credential → Drop to CDN API. Paste your API key from Dashboard → Settings (starts with dtc_).
- Add the node to a workflow: search for Drop to CDN in the node panel, connect your credentials, and choose Upload, Get, or Delete.

## n8n node operations

Upload, get metadata, or delete files by ID.

- Upload — inputs: binary property (default data), optional retention days, never expire. Outputs: id, url, expires_at, size, mime_type, original_name.
- Get — inputs: file ID. Outputs: id, url, expires_at, size, mime_type, original_name.
- Delete — inputs: file ID. Outputs: id, deleted: true.

## n8n workflow examples

Common patterns in n8n workflows.

- Webhook → CDN URL: receive a file on a Webhook trigger, upload it with Drop to CDN, and return the public URL in the response.
- Metadata before sharing: use Get to fetch expiry, size, and mime type before sending a link to users or downstream systems.
- Pipeline cleanup: delete files by ID after delivery or when a workflow completes so storage stays within your plan.
- Publish Google Drive files: watch a Drive folder, download new files, upload to Drop to CDN, and output a direct CDN link.

## n8n integration FAQ

Common questions about the n8n node.

### How do I install the node?

In n8n: Settings → Community nodes → Install → n8n-nodes-droptocdn. On verified instances an owner may need to install it once; then all users can add the Drop to CDN node.

### Where do I get an API key?

Sign up at Drop to CDN, open Dashboard → Settings → API keys, and create a key (starts with dtc_). Paste it into the Drop to CDN API credential in n8n.

### Why does the credential test fail?

Check that the key is complete, starts with dtc_, and has not been revoked. The credential test calls GET /v1/profile.

### Can I use plain HTTP Request nodes instead?

Yes. Any HTTP client can POST multipart/form-data to https://api.droptocdn.com/v1/files with an Authorization: Bearer header.
